I was not a fan of our night nurse. I had been up since 6:30am and all I wanted to do was get the epidural so I could get a little bit of sleep. She kept saying that it was too early for an epidural (not true). I was so uncomfortable from the heart burn, my back, and the mild contractions that I think I only managed to doze off for 10-15min total that night. I watched housewives re runs and got up to pee every 5 seconds it seemed like.
7am and I was so happy to have a different nurse now! As soon as our a.m nurse got there, I asked for the epidural and she put in for it right away. The coolest, chillest nurse ever .. which is what I needed. I got my epidural by 8:30 am and at this point it was just a waiting game. I still hadn’t been to sleep, but it was too close to delivery and my nerves were going crazy.
Around 11am I was checked and dilated to a 9 and was told that they would be back in a few to start pushing. I immediately opened my lavender essential oil and smothered it all over my nose 😂. The nurses and doctor came back in and said it smelt like a spa, haha.
I started pushing around 12:15ish and Tatum was here by 12:30. The most beautiful experience ever, much different than the first (where the epidural didn’t work and I was drugged to high heavens). This time around I could feel little angels around me, helping me push. That’s the only way I can describe it, it’s something I’ve never experienced before, spiritually.
Tatum was here and as soon as I caught a glimpse of her sweet little face, I burst into tears. She was a spitting image of her older sister whom I missed sooo much.
